Over 30,000 vehicles have been searched on Carma, and drivers are finding deadly Takata airbags in cars, SUVs, and trucks from many different manufacturers. For now, we’re collaborating with Toyota to provide rewards for people who encourage their friends to find Takatas in eligible vehicles.

Carma visitors are still checking thousands of vehicles from other automakers, and we’re actively having conversations with some of these manufacturers. We hope to expand our rewards offerings to include even more eligible vehicles soon.

Takata Airbag Recall Data

We looked up how many of these non-Toyota searches resulted in Takata recalls, and here’s what we found:

  • 8% of all vehicles searched had a Takata airbag recall.
  • Mercedes-Benz and Subaru had the highest proportion of recalled vehicles for Takata airbags searched on Carma with 19% and 20% respectively.
  • BMW also made double digits at 15%.
  • Ford and Honda, who recently recalled millions of additional vehicles, had recalled Takatas in 9% of all searched vehicles. Chrysler was close behind with 8%.

Get Your Vehicle Fixed

You may even be able to get a loaner vehicle. The fix for replacing a Takata airbag does not take very long, and getting yours fixed could save the life of someone you love.
