What are "eligible recalls"?
There are many elements that affect whether a car has a safety recall eligible for our programs. If the app reports that a vehicle is “not eligible,” it’s possible that the vehicle could still have a dangerous recall. Factors affecting recall eligibility:
Car Make, Model & Year - Only a limited number of car makes, models and years are currently part of the Carma Project outreach program. To get an updated list of which car makes, models & years are currently in our programs, find them here: https://www.carmaproject.com/affected-vehicles
Recall Type - Only a limited number of automotive recalls are currently part of the Carma Project outreach program. Currently the Carma Project outreach program is working on the Takata Airbag Recall. Learn more here: https://www.nhtsa.gov/takata
When a car was last notified - Cars that were recently notified are not eligible for another Carma Project notice until a window of time has passed, in order to give the car owner a chance to schedule a repair.
