terms & conditions

The Carma Project Ambassador Program (“Ambassador Program”) allows registered users (“Ambassadors”) to earn promotional points called “CarmaCoin” which can be redeemed for gift cards using the mobile-app, Bitmo. Ambassadors are required to create a Bitmo Account in order to redeem their CarmaCoin.

By clicking accept and/or by participating in the Ambassador Program, you agree to the following Ambassador Program Terms and Conditions (“Terms”), which become part of the Carma Project’s Terms of Service. In the event of any conflicting provision between these Terms and Conditions and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service will prevail. Please also review our Privacy Policy, which governs your visit to the Carma Project Website, to understand our data collection and use practices.

The Ambassador Program is open to legal residents of the United States (including residents of U.S Territories and the District of Columbia) that are at least eighteen years of age at the time of registration. By accessing or participating in the Ambassador Program, you represent and warrant that you are eighteen years or older. The Ambassador Program is intended for personal use only. In order to use certain portions or functionalities of the Ambassador Program, you are required to register with the Carma Project. When becoming a registered user of the Ambassador Program, you must provide required registration information. You may also use your Facebook or Google account to sign-up to the Ambassador Program. We reserve the right to deny an Ambassador the ability to create a user account if the registration information provided is incomplete or otherwise inadequate. Also, your registration as an Ambassador is void where prohibited by law. You must protect any passwords or other credentials associated with your account for the Ambassador Program, and take full responsibility for any use of the account under your password. If your account becomes compromised, you must inform us of this as soon as possible in order to limit your liability.

Earning CarmaCoin

Ambassadors can earn CarmaCoin by completing various tasks described as “Missions”, which can be found on the Carma Project Website as part of the Ambassador Program. For example, Ambassadors may earn CarmaCoin by successfully: 1) posting information or promotional “Content” on social media or other forums with the intent of referring individuals to click on the Ambassador’s referral link and complete a required activity; 2) taking an online survey or questionnaire; 3) watching an informational video.  The referring Ambassador will be credited with CarmaCoin in the amount described in the “Missions.” The maximum CarmaCoin issued to an Ambassador will be 10,000 CarmaCoin, unless otherwise indicated or approved by the Carma Project.

Redeeming CarmaCoin

The Carma Project uses Bitmo, Inc., to provide services related to CarmaCoin redemption. CarmaCoin may only be redeemed via the Bitmo mobile app which requires the use of an eligible Android or iOS device. By entering into the Ambassador Program, you grant the Carma Project the right and authority to act on your behalf and transmit your Ambassador Program related information to Bitmo, Inc.

A Carma Ambassador earns CarmaCoin for successfully completing Missions. Once the Ambassador collects a minimum of 500 CarmaCoin, a CarmaCard is issued to the Ambassador’s Bitmo account on the Bitmo platform in the same amount. The Ambassador may then redeem their CarmaCard for gift cards available on the Bitmo platform. Bitmo’s terms of use, privacy policy, and other restrictions apply. CarmaCoin are credits issued for promotional purposes and have no cash value and may not be transferred or exchanged for cash. CarmaCoin earned by Ambassadors may not be transferred or moved to other Ambassadors or entities. CarmaCoin shall be treated like “points” earned in other incentive programs, and cannot be transferred by operation of law, such as by bankruptcy, inheritance, or in a legal separation. Gift cards are valid at participating merchants only, and are subject to the issuer’s terms and conditions, which, if permitted by law, address expiration policies and non-usage fees and can be changed at the sole discretion of the issuer.

If for any reason you believe that there is a discrepancy regarding your CarmaCoin balance, or your ability to redeem CarmaCoin via our partnership with Bitmo it is your responsibility to contact us. We may require you to submit additional information in order to make a determination regarding your balance. We also reserve the right to reclaim, substitute, or make balance adjustments accordingly where it has been established that any issuance of CarmaCoin has been applied in error or should you not be eligible to use Bitmo per Bitmo’s terms of use. Additionally, the Carma Project cannot be held responsible should any third-party providers fail to report that a successful referral action has been completed. All decisions regarding your balance will be final and at our sole discretion. You are responsible for any tax consequences, if any, that may result from your redemption or use of CarmaCoin. Where applicable, we may be required to account for applicable taxes on any services for which the CarmaCoin are redeemed.

Multiple Referrals

A referred individual may only use one referral link and must be considered an eligible referral that has not previously participated in a vehicle look-up or has previously signed-up for the Ambassador Program. If a referred individual receives referral links from multiple Ambassadors, the referral link that is clicked first will be eligible for a CarmaCoin incentive. The Carma Project reserves the right to change, end, or pause, in whole or in part, any referral program, as well as any referrer/inviter's or referee/invitee's ability to participate in any referral program or receive referral rewards at any time for any reason, including suspected fraud (including by either the referrer and/or referee/invitee), abuse, or any other violation of these Terms. The Carma Project also reserves the right to limit the number of times Ambassadors may use or share a referral link at any time.

Ambassador Obligations

In order to earn CarmaCoin, Ambassadors are required to take certain actions as described in the “Missions.” These additional obligations apply:

Ambassador shall comply with all applicable laws relating to the performance of his or her activities pursuant to these Terms.

Multiple Accounts

Users may only create one Carma Ambassador account. Creating multiple accounts will be considered fraud and the user may be subject to termination and/or financial penalties.

The Carma Project may suspend or terminate, the Ambassador Program, or a user’s or Ambassador’s ability to participate in the Ambassador Program, at any time, and for any reason. The Carma Project may suspend Ambassador Accounts or remove CarmaCoin if it notices or suspects activity that we believe is abusive, fraudulent, in violation of these Terms, in violation of the Carma Project’s Terms of Service, or in violation of any applicable laws.  We reserve the right to investigate and review all activities associated with the Ambassador Program and to take such action that, in our sole discretion deem fair and appropriate. Fraudulent or abusive activity will result in immediate termination of your involvement in the Ambassador Program.  If an Ambassador has not passed the 500 CarmaCoin mark, and their account remains inactive for a 3-month period, his/her account will be canceled and he/she will lose his/her CarmaCoin. Additionally, if the Ambassador Program is terminated in its entirety, any CarmaCoin at or below the 500 CarmaCoin threshold amount at the time of termination will be forfeited.

If any provision of these Terms is held by a court or other tribunal of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be eliminated or limited to the minimum extent such that the remaining provisions of the Terms will continue in full force and effect.
